Tireless activist and civic volunteer, Dr. Constance Rice, retired as Managing Director of Knowledge Management for Casey Family Programs in 2015 after 15 years. While at Casey, Rice and her team provided subject matter expertise in the areas of child protection policy, immigration, best practices, education, employment, housing, mental health, and kinship care to foundation staff and partners working in 50 states and jurisdictions. Before Casey, Dr. Rice served as the national founding Executive Director of the Desmond Tutu Peace Foundation. Since retiring, Dr. Rice became the second Black woman to Chair the University of Washington Board of Regents in 2016, and in 2021, she was voted Chair of the Seattle Art Museum. She is the first Black woman chair of a major U.S. art museum.
